There are 2 things I love: networking and raising awareness and support for great causes! On December 5th, I was able to do both of these things when my company, TRUE Model Management was a sponsor for the “Look Good Feel Good” Gala. This wholehearted benefit was created and hosted by professional hairstylist and renowned make-up artist, Marcello Costa. The event raised awareness and support for The American Cancer Society and Marcello’s new Signature Wig Collection to benefit cancer patients. As a cancer survivor myself, the ability to support organizations like The American Cancer Society is near and dear to my heart. No matter how small or big, all donations make a difference and help to fund research, progress treatments, and provide care to those who have been diagnosed with the disease. Cancer is one illness that is felt by all, as almost everyone knows someone personally who has been affected. The “Look Good Feel Good” benefit was inspired by and in honor of Marcello’s mother who suffered from a brain cancer that ultimately took her life. Marcello was only 23 when his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and he made a promise to her to that he would help other people who are diagnosed with cancer. Marcello created his first wig for his mother to wear after she lost her hair due to her cancer treatments. His mother’s reaction to the wig he made, was a moment that impacted Marcello deeply. As soon as she put the wig on, you could visibly see a positive difference in the way that she was viewing herself. This defining moment, lead Marcello to look into wig production to learn everything he could about the process. He saw firsthand the power that feeling good about yourself had on your overall wellness and he wanted to help people who had lost their hair from cancer to feel great again. At the event, Marcello debuted his new line of signature wigs geared towards cancer patients, during a spectacular fashion presentation. His new line celebrates women and gives them the ability to feel like themselves again. Many women going through cancer treatments lose their hair and begin to feel like they are losing themselves and what makes them beautiful. But, cancer can’t take away your beauty and one of Marcello’s gorgeous wigs will have you feeling as confident as ever. If you were unable to attend the gala, but would like to donate to The American Cancer Society, you can do so here. Remember, donations are tax deductible! The night featured many amazing people and performers.
